E G Jones was part of the 13th Battalion of the Welsh Regiment, which served under the British Army during the First World War. The battalion moved to France in November 1915 and fought in the Battle of Albert and the Mametz Wood in 1916 and Battles of Ypres in 1917. In 1918, the battalion returned to France and fought in various Battles of the Somme and it is most likely that E G Jones was killed during the Battle of Albert.
