Private Trevor Jones was the son of Mr H. Jones, Broncoed, Crosswood. He was educated at the Council School, Llanafan, and the County School, Aberystwyth, before becoming a chemist. He worked for many years with Mr B Taylor Lloyd, Aberystwyth, before joining the army in March 1915. He saw active service in Gallipoli, Egypt and the Gaza front. He was wounded by a bomb during the First Battle of Gaza and was evacuated to a hospital in Cairo. He died of his wounds on 13 May 1917. Press reports suggest he may have received a promotion before his death to Corporal.
