The soldiers fighting in Gallipoli are evacuated and the campaign ends.

By the end of 1915 it was obvious that there was no hope of breaking through in Gallipoli. The Turkish defenders (supported by German soldiers) were too tough and the conditions too difficult for the Allies to win the battle. So the British army decided to evacuate all of the soldiers.

The evacuation was completed in January 1916. About 250,000 Allied soldiers were killed or wounded during the Gallipoli campaign. Very little was actually achieved by it.

Troops are evacuated from Gallipoli with a large field gun.
