Jack Williams awarded VC

no date

Jack Williams of Nantyglo, Monmouthshire, was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions on the evening of the 7th-8th of November in Villers Outreaux in France. He single-handedly stormed an enemy machine gun post, capturing 15 of the enemy. However the enemy realised that he was alone and turned on him. He succeeded in breaking away and, after some fighting, the remaining enemy soldiers surrendered. This meant that his company and those either side could move forwards.
